19 Sep Lavipharm: Constant supporter of MDA Hellas – Concert for a Cause
Peania, 19 September 2023 – Lavipharm joins voices with MDA Hellas, that organizes a unique concert featuring the leading singer-songwriter Nikos Portokaloglou and the renowned singer Rena Morfi. The concert will take place tomorrow, 20 September (21.00) at the Veakio Municipal Theatre of Piraeus.
The concert aims to support the cause of MDA Hellas, the Association for the care and welfare of those affected with Neuromuscular Diseases, and more specifically, its members with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). All proceeds will be donated to the creation of a pilot home-based palliative care programme, through which MDA Hellas seeks to ensure conditions that promote a life of quality and dignity for both the patient and the families.
Lavipharm, serving its mission to develop and deliver science-driven medicines and self-care solutions that enable people to live healthier and longer, supports actions that enhance disseminating information, raising awareness, aiming to improve quality of life. Our participation in such an initiative will contribute in essence to offering a better life and inclusiveness in our society to people with challenging diseases.

A few words about MDA Hellas:
MDA Hellas, Association for the care of people with Neuromuscular Diseases (NMD), was founded in Athens in January 2000, with the aim of improving the living conditions of its Members. NMDs are rare diseases, mainly of genetic origin, affecting the muscular system. The severity and clinical presentation varies between the conditions. Many lead to the use of a wheelchair while others do not. Today, more than 1500 families are registered in MDA Hellas nationwide, some of which have more than one member who is challenged.
MDA has not received any government subsidy throughout its entire history. Hence all the activities are implemented sponsored by private initiative.
