Peania, May 10th 2021 – It is with great sadness that the family of Lavipharm bids farewell to Athanase (Thanassis) Lavidas, Executive Chairman, who passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the age of 73.

Athanase Lavidas was Lavipharm’s majority shareholder leading the company since 1976. Under his leadership, Lavipharm was transformed from a family business into an integrated pharmaceutical Greek conglomerate with a proud history of 110 years and with extensive activities in Greece and internationally. Athanase Lavidas, with his emblematic personality, was a pioneer and prominent figure in the Greek business community. A visionary with an extrovert and innovative approach to everything, he managed to link his name, career and company to the most significant milestones of our country’s business arena, having left his distinctive and creative mark in the pharma industry. Always ethical, noble and easy to approach, Athanase Lavidas made sure to always put “people first” and to make a positive contribution to society. All the employees of Lavipharm, grieving over the loss of their outstanding leader express their heartfelt condolences to his family, pledging to continue his lifetime work and to honour the great legacy he leaves behind. The ceremonial funeral will be held at the First Cemetery of Athens, at 10am on Wednesday, May 12th 2021, following current health protocols.
